ISPN Collaborative Network Advancing Nursing Education
in the People’s Republic of China
CGFNS International, Inc. today applauded the 88 government-approved nursing colleges, medical universities with a nursing specialty, and other institutions that are members of the CGFNS International Standards for Professional Nurses® (ISPN) Collaborative Network in the People’s Republic of China. This Network provides a platform for institutions committed to advancing nursing education and practice by incorporating international content and perspectives into their curriculum.
“The strength of the Network,” said Franklin A. Shaffer, EdD, RN, FAAN and CEO of CGFNS International, “lies in its shared commitment to raising the standard of nursing education in China. It has provided impetus for change and we are proud to support this vision.”
CGFNS introduced the CGFNS International Standards for Professional Nurses® (ISPN) Program to China for first-level, general nurses to enhance their professional status at home and abroad in 2008. Qualified first-level general nurses can validate their nursing knowledge against an international standard by passing the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®. Since 2009, nursing institutions have come together to establish this Collaborative Network to support the goals and objectives inherent in the CGFNS ISPN® Program. Over the years, this Network has become a critical resource for internationalizing nursing curriculum in China. Its activities have included conferences and exchanges focusing on the international dimensions of nursing education in China.
Membership requirements are established by the ISPN® Collaborative Network Administrative Committee and institutions applying for membership will undergo a professional panel review.
