CGFNS International, Inc. is proud to announce Catherine Alicia Georges, EdD, RN, FAAN, has been elected president-elect of AARP Board of Directors. Dr. Georges’ service to CGFNS spans many years and in a variety of roles, culminating as Board of Trustees President from 2004-2005.
Currently, Dr. Georges is President of the National Black Nurses Foundation (NBNF) and Chairperson of the Department of Nursing at Lehman College of the City University of New York. As an educator and practitioner, Dr. Georges is well-known throughout the nursing community. The dedicated leader is committed to improving the health of the disadvantaged and minorities and has worked to develop international relationships with schools of nursing world-wide.
With a professional background in leadership and in policy development, community service and education, Dr. Georges comes well prepared for the road ahead. As president-elect, she will provide leadership at key meetings and will advance AARP’s mission, to strengthen communities and fight for issues that matter most to families.
