CGFNS International is honored to join the First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, more than 150 state and national nursing organizations, and over 500 nursing schools in the Joining Forces campaign. This campaign represents a commitment from our nation’s nursing leaders to train more than 3 million nurses to have a better understanding of the healthcare needs of veterans and their families.
Joining Forces emphasizes training for the care of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). More than 1,000 nurses participated in launching this initiative at the University of Pennsylvania on April 11. This campaign is coordinated by the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense.
CGFNS International CEO, Dr. Franklin Shaffer, RN, FAAN, a nurse and veteran said, “This initiative has the potential to make a difference in the lives of our veterans and their families. Equipping nurses with the tools to care for those affected by PTSD and TBI will go a long way in restoring and rebuilding their lives.”
