CGFNS INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIES FIRST P-ISPN INSTRUCTOR
CGFNS International, Inc. certified the first P-ISPN instructor for the CGFNS International Standards for Professional Nurses® (ISPN) Program in the People’s Republic of China. This certification program was launched in September 2013 to establish a benchmark to recognize nursing instructors who are deemed prepared to assist nurses to achieve international standards in their nursing education in China.
Ling Liu, a nursing instructor at the Huaiyin Advanced Vocational and Technical School of Health in Jiangsu Province, became certified after successfully completing the CGFNS International Summer Institute for Nursing Faculty and passing the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® for registered nurses offered under the CGFNS ISPN® Program. CGFNS International created the CGFNS ISPN® Program for countries desiring to measure their nursing education standards against an international benchmark. The CGFNS ISPN® Program has been offered in The People’s Republic of China since 2009. The Program continues to expand through a collaborative network of 88 nursing colleges, medical universities with a nursing specialty, and other institutions.
“Based on our experience in the CGFNS ISPN® Program,” said Franklin A. Shaffer, EdD, RN, FAAN and CEO of CGFNS International, “we recognized the need to support professional development for nursing faculty in order to advance nursing education in China. This certification program serves as a catalyst for this forward momentum.”
The Summer Institute provides nursing faculty from across China an opportunity to gain critical insight into nursing education from an international perspective. By infusing western nursing concepts and practices into Chinese nursing curriculum, nursing faculty can explore instructional methodologies to strengthen teaching and learning in nursing education.
In congratulating Ling Liu, Dr. Shaffer expressed his support for expanding the CGFNS ISPN® Program for nurses and the P-ISPN certification program for nursing faculty in China.
